HIKING
The Right Trip
Because we know you’ll enjoy your trip more if you’re on the right trip, we want to do everything we can to help you choose well. That’s why we assign each trip an Activity Level, reflecting how much hiking is involved on a daily basis, as well as how challenging the terrain is.
1 Easygoing: Hotel nights, hikes of two to four hours a day on country lanes, footpaths and coastal or forest trails, all on relatively flat terrain, with an occasional hill to appreciate a great view.
2 Easy to Moderate: 3 to 5 hours a day on country lanes, footpaths and coastal or forest trails, all on hilly terrain, with an occasional steep trail to appreciate a great view.
3 Moderate: Full-day hikes (4 to 6 hours) most days over fairly hilly terrain along high meadow paths and/or well-maintained alpine trails with occasional steep trails and exposure. Some elevation gain and loss (hiking up or down 200-500meters) on most hikes.
4 Moderate to Strenuous: Full-day hikes (5 to 8 hours), mountainous terrain, occasional steep trails and exposure. Significant elevation gains and losses (hiking up or down 500-1000 meters) on most hikes. Altitudes no greater than about 3000meters.
5 Strenuous: Full-day hikes from hut to hut (5 to 8 hours), mountainous terrain, steep trails and exposure. Significant elevation gains and losses (hiking up or down 500-1000 meters) on most hikes. Altitudes no greater than 3000meters.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
The Right Trip
Because we know you’ll enjoy your trip more if you’re on the right trip, we want to do everything we can to help you choose well. That’s why we assign each trip an Activity Level, reflecting how much biking is involved on a daily basis, as well as how challenging the terrain is.
1 Easygoing: 30-55 km/day (3 to 5 hours) on gently rolling terrain, with some longer climbs to points that are well worth the effort.
2 Easy to Moderate:
35 -65 km/day, over rolling terrain on a variety of road surfaces. With one or two steeper climbs to reach places of interest (viewpoints etc.)
3 Moderate:
50- 80 km/day, over hilly terrain with some steep climbs to reach places of interest. For active and trained bikers.
4 Moderate to Strenuous:
70-120 km/day over hilly terrain with different road surfaces steep climbs to reach points of interest. For well-trained bikers.
5 Strenuous:
100 km/day changing road surfaces, steep and long climbs or descents. Only for professionals!

VIA FERRATA
The Right Trip
Because we know you’ll enjoy your trip more if you’re on the right trip, we want to do everything we can to help you choose well. That’s why we assign each Via Ferrata an Activity Level, reflecting it’s technical difficulty as well as how serious it can be. The seriousness of a route takes into account the accessibility, potential escape routes, level of fitness, potential dangers and weather changes.
Technical difficulty:
1 Easygoing:
Easy routes, with limited via ferrata climbing, entirely suitable for inexperienced. Requires no more than a head for heights and sure-footedness.
2 Easy to Moderate: Straightforward routes for the experienced mountain walker or scrambler with a head for heights.
3 Moderate: Rather more difficult routes, not recommended for the completely novice via ferratist. Freedom for vertigo and sure-footedness are required.
4 Moderate to Strenuous: Demanding routes, frequently involving steep rock faces and requiring a fairly high standart of technical climbing ability. For experienced hikers without fear of hights.
5 Strenuous: Routes of highest technical standart encountered in via ferrata climbing. Only for the most experienced via ferratist!

Seriousness
A.
Straightforward in relatively unthreatening mountain terrain. These routes have easy access and/or escape opportunities and are the climber should be aware from the risk of stone-fall and in the event of a change of weather in the mountain.
B. Routes where a degree of mountain experience is required. Acess might be more difficult, and/or escape opportunities to escape will be limited, the climber should be aware from the risk of stone-fall and in the event of a change of weather in the mountain.
C. Routes only for the experienced mountaineer. These route might lack any escape opportunities, be in remote areas, have passages of exposed, unprotected terrain and the climber should be aware from the risk of stone-fall and in the event of a change of weather in the mountain.
