Hoch Tyrol Ski Tour
A wonderful week of ski touring amidst truly spectacular scenery.
Considered
the Chamonix-Zermatt of the Oriental Alps,
this long and demanding traverse discloses authentic
“jewels” to be found both
in the landscape and in the warmth of the mountain huts. The trip
covers some
of the highest peaks in Austria,
winding through South Tyrol,
Salzburger and
Carinzia. It starts in Kasern in the Valle Aurina (Italy)
but soon crosses the
Austrian border to end at the Gross Glockner, the highest peak of the
Oriental
Alps (3798mt). The itinerary rolls through glaciers and valleys and
includes
the ascents of the Gross Venediger (3674mt), the Grosser Geiger
(3360mt) and
the Granatspitzer (3086m). These peaks are not very difficult but the
use of
crampons and ice-axe is required.
You will enjoy the hospitality and warmth of the Hoch Tyrol an
experience that
makes this trip unforgettable.
